Gull Feroza Fined 10 Percent for ICC Code Breach

DUBAI: (Sports Reporter) – Pakistan batter Gull Feroza has been fined 10 percent of her match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the Women’s Asia Cup Group A match against Hong Kong.

Gull was found guilty of violating Article 2.8, which deals with showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match.

The incident occurred in the fifth over of Pakistan’s innings when Gull was given out leg before wicket. She expressed her disappointment and indicated to the umpire that she had edged the delivery by gesturing towards her bat.

The sanction also included one demerit point, taking Gull’s total to two points within a 24-month period. She had previously received a demerit point during Pakistan’s Women’s T20 World Cup league match against Australia on June 23.

Gull admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Supriya Rani Das of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, meaning no formal hearing was required.

The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Rabab Ahsan and Rokeya Sultana, along with third umpire Shivani Mishra and fourth umpire Shathira Jakir.

Level 1 breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct carry penalties ranging from an official reprimand to a fine of up to 50 percent of a player’s match fee, along with one or two demerit points.
