On the 59th Defence Day of Pakistan, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir delivered a compelling address, honoring the nation’s martyrs and reaffirming the commitment of Pakistan’s armed forces to protect the country’s sovereignty.
Observed every September 6, Defence Day commemorates Pakistan’s military triumph in the 1965 conflict with India—a day of national pride and reflection.

General Munir emphasized the significant role that September 6 holds in Pakistan’s history, celebrating the unity and resolve of the Pakistani people and military during the war. This unity, he noted, was crucial in thwarting enemy ambitions and safeguarding the nation.
He honored the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for Pakistan, stating, “We pay tribute to the valiant officers and soldiers who gave their lives for the homeland.” General Munir stressed that the army remains dedicated to protecting the legacy and honor of these martyrs and their families, placing their well-being as a top priority.

The COAS reaffirmed that the Pakistan Army’s guiding principles—“Faith, Piety, and Jihad”—continue to be its core strength, enabling it to address various threats. He praised the exceptional bravery and professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces, highlighting their success in combating terrorism and maintaining national security.
General Munir also addressed emerging threats such as “digital terrorism” and 5th-generation warfare, noting their complexity and danger compared to traditional terrorism. He assured the nation that the military is actively addressing these new challenges while remaining dedicated to national unity and peace.

The army chief emphasized that no force could undermine Pakistan’s determination for a secure and peaceful future. Despite Pakistan’s commitment to peace, General Munir assured that the armed forces remain vigilant and prepared to respond to any aggression.
Turning to the Kashmir conflict, General Munir called for a peaceful resolution in line with United Nations resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people. He commended the resilience of Kashmiris in the face of Indian aggression, affirming Pakistan’s ongoing support for their cause.
