Two New Cases of Congo Fever Reported in Balochistan, Total Rising to 26

Test Results Positive for Patients from Quetta and Loralai

On Thursday, Balochistan reported two new cases of Congo fever, raising the total number of cases in the province for the year to 26.

Both patients tested positive for the virus and are currently receiving treatment in hospital wards. One patient, 55-year-old Abdul Hameed, is from Quetta, while the other, 60-year-old Muhammad Khan, is from Loralai.

In addition, two suspected cases from Quetta have been admitted to Fatima Jinnah Hospital. The test samples for these patients—55-year-old Naeema Jan from Chaman Phatak and 31-year-old Roohullah from Hazara Town—have been sent for laboratory analysis.

The hospital administration reported that five people have died from Congo fever in the province over the past five years.

In Karachi, there has been a recent spike in Congo fever cases, with five new infections reported in the first two weeks of August alone. To date, 14 cases have been confirmed this year. The Sindh Health Department has verified these Congo fever cases in Karachi.
