Former MNA Jamshed Dasti Sentenced to 7 Years in Fake Degree Case
The case had been pending in court for several years, and a verdict was finally delivered today.
Islamabad – Former Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Jamshed Dasti has once again found himself entangled in legal trouble, as a local court in Multan has sentenced him to seven years in prison in a fake degree case.
Dasti, who was elected from NA-175 Muzaffargarh, was accused of submitting forged educational documents to contest elections. After a thorough review of the evidence and arguments presented, the court found him guilty and handed down the prison sentence.
It is worth noting that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had previously disqualified Dasti following a reference from the Speaker of the National Assembly. The case had been pending in court for several years, and a verdict was finally delivered today.
In its ruling, the court emphasized that public representatives must uphold transparency and integrity, and those who fail to do so will face legal consequences. Meanwhile, Dasti has rejected the court’s decision, calling it “politically motivated.”
In a statement posted on his social media account, Jamshed Dasti alleged that the case was part of a conspiracy by his political rivals aimed at excluding him from the electoral process. He stated that he will challenge the verdict in a higher court and prove his innocence.

In a separate development, a new Lahore to Rawalpindi Railcar service has been inaugurated, and the government has announced the addition of 400 new coaches to Pakistan Railways in an effort to modernize and expand the service.
Political analysts believe that the court’s decision could have a significant impact on Jamshed Dasti’s political future, especially with general elections approaching. Once considered a popular grassroots leader, Dasti is now under immense pressure due to growing legal challenges.
