Six Militants Killed In CTD Intelligence Operation In Lakki Marwat

BANNU: (Web Desk) – Six militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in the Shagai area of Lakki Marwat district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday, officials confirmed.

According to authorities, the raid was carried out within the jurisdiction of Gambela Police Station after intelligence reports about the presence of militants in the region. A Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of the CTD participated in the operation.

Officials said the militants opened fire as soon as they noticed the security team approaching the area. CTD personnel responded in self-defence, triggering a heavy exchange of gunfire that lasted nearly 40 minutes.

After the shooting stopped, security forces launched a search of the area and discovered the bodies of six militants. Initial reports indicate that efforts are underway to confirm the identities of those killed. Authorities added that action will also be taken against their facilitators and associates once the identification process is completed.

During the search operation, security personnel recovered a large quantity of weapons and explosives. The seized items included four Kalashnikov rifles with ten magazines and 43 rounds of ammunition, two 9mm pistols with four magazines and seven rounds, eight hand grenades, four bandoliers and an improvised explosive device (IED).

Inspector General of Zulfiqar Hameed and the Additional Inspector General of the Counter Terrorism Department praised the CTD SWAT teams for successfully carrying out the operation. They commended the officers for their professionalism, bravery and quick response.

The provincial police chief said security personnel remain a crucial force in the fight against terrorism and play a vital role in ensuring peace and stability in the region. He added that the sacrifices of martyrs would always be remembered and that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police will continue its efforts to eradicate terrorism from the province.
