Islamabad: Federal government demands end to theft for power supply in KP. The federal and provincial governments have joined forces to address the pressing issue of electricity shortages in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, alongside Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Energy Minister Owais Leghari, convened to discuss strategic measures to alleviate the burden of load shedding in the province.

Following the fruitful meeting, the trio in a press conference on Monday in Islamabad emerged with a unified stance, affirming their commitment to collaborative action. Interior Minister Naqvi hailed the gathering as a pivotal moment, marking a significant breakthrough in resolving the electricity crisis.

Chief Minister Gandapur emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts across all sectors, highlighting the province’s capacity for electricity production. He pledged to lead the charge towards solar energy adoption, a move aimed at providing sustainable solutions to the power deficit.

Energy Minister Leghari underscored the transcendent nature of the meeting, transcending political divides for the collective good. He outlined a comprehensive model crafted through mutual cooperation, poised to serve as a blueprint for addressing electricity theft nationwide.

However, behind closed doors, the stark reality of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s plight was revealed. Chief Minister Gandapur lamented the severe load shedding lasting up to 18 hours, while Minister Leghari attributed part of the problem to rampant electricity theft. Urging action on this front, Leghari assured uninterrupted power supply if theft could be curbed effectively.
