Motorists were also advised to contact the Motorway Police helpline 130 for assistance or updated information.
LAHORE: Several sections of Pakistan’s motorways were closed to traffic on Saturday as dense fog blanketed large parts of the country, significantly reducing visibility and posing serious risks to motorists.
According to officials, the M-2 motorway was closed from Lahore to Hiran Minar, while traffic was also suspended on M-3 from Faizpur to Darkhana, M-11 from Lahore to Sialkot, and M-5 from Multan to Sukkur.
Foggy conditions were also reported in areas along Multan Road and its surroundings, including Manga Mandi, Phoolnagar, Jambar, Pattoki, Mian Channu, Khanewal, Multan, Lodhran, Bahawalpur, Ahmadpur East, Tarinda Muhammad Panah, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sadiqabad.
A spokesman for the Motorway Police said the closures were implemented to protect lives and property amid poor visibility. He urged motorists to strictly follow lane discipline, warning that violations could lead to serious accidents.

The spokesman advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel, and if travel was essential, to do so during daylight hours and use fog lights. “Travelling between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM is the safest,” he said, adding that drivers should maintain safe speeds and keep adequate distance from other vehicles.
Motorists were also advised to contact the Motorway Police helpline 130 for assistance or updated information.
