Panic spread quickly through the school as gunfire echoed across the grounds. One 18-year-old student described the confusion in the first moments of the attack.

He said the sound initially seemed like firecrackers or something being struck repeatedly. It took a few seconds before he realized gunshots were actually being fired.

The shots came in bursts, paused briefly, then started again. Students scrambled to find safety as staff worked to move everyone out of harm’s way.

Photos shared by emergency responders showed students streaming out of the building in large groups. Ambulances lined the area as medical teams treated the wounded on-site.

One image showed a patient lying on a stretcher just outside an ambulance. Nearby, another injured person was receiving urgent care from a paramedic.

Debsirin Nonthaburi School is a well-known institution on the northwestern edge of Bangkok. During the 2025 academic year, it had roughly 3,100 students and 147 teachers enrolled.

This is not the first school shooting to hit Thailand this year. Back in February, a similar incident occurred in the country’s southern Hat Yai district.

That earlier attack resulted in the death of a teacher, along with a student who was injured. Together, these events have reignited concerns about school safety across Thailand.

Gun ownership in Thailand remains comparatively high for the region. This has fueled public debate about firearm access and safety measures inside schools.

As investigators continue piecing together the timeline, questions remain about how the young shooter obtained his weapon. Authorities have not yet released a possible motive behind the attack.
