Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Alerts of Potential Assassination Risk
Mohammed bin Salman Warns of Imminent Assassination Threat Against Him
RIYADH – Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has voiced concerns about the potential risk to his life, citing possible assassination threats.
As reported by Politico magazine, Prince Mohammed bin Salman informed U.S. Congress members about the threat of an assassination attempt against him. He suggested that his efforts to advance Saudi-Israeli relations and strengthen ties with the U.S. have increased the danger to his safety.
He drew a comparison to the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, who was killed after the Camp David Accords with Israel.
The Crown Prince also stressed to U.S. lawmakers that any potential deal with Israel must include a credible plan for establishing a Palestinian state, especially given the growing Arab discontent with Israel.

Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia had informed the U.S. that it would not move forward with diplomatic relations with Israel until a Palestinian state is established within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
In January, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan had also indicated that Saudi Arabia might recognize Israel if the Palestinian issue is resolved.
