Crackdown Launched Against 744 Unregistered Schools, Academies in Lahore
LAHORE: (Web Desk) – The District Education Authority has launched a crackdown against unregistered private schools and academies across Lahore, serving notices to 744 institutions operating without registration.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat Khan said that under the Punjab Private Educational Institution Ordinance, 1984, registration is mandatory for every educational institution.
He urged private school and academy administrations to complete their registration process immediately, warning that strict action would be taken against those failing to comply with the law.
The authorities have directed the administrations of the unregistered institutions to submit their responses within three days. Legal proceedings will be initiated against schools and academies that fail to respond within the stipulated period.
According to the District Education Authority, unregistered institutions may face fines ranging from Rs300,000 to Rs4 million under applicable laws and regulations.

The education minister further said that obtaining a Fitness Certificate is also mandatory for private educational institutions. He warned that schools and academies operating without the required certificate would be sealed.
