US-Congressman Alexander N. Green Honored with Sitara-i-Khidmat for Strengthening US-Pakistan Relationship. In a distinguished ceremony today, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh presented the esteemed Sitara-i-Khidmat award to U.S. Congressman Alexander N. Green, honoring his exceptional contributions to strengthening the relationship between Pakistan and the United States.

The accolade also acknowledges his efforts in advancing a positive perception of Pakistan within the U.S. Congress.

The ceremony, which celebrated Congressman Green’s ongoing dedication to improving bilateral relations, was attended by notable figures including Congressman Randy Weber, Rep. Henry Cuellar, former Congressman Nick Lampson, Texas State Representative Suleman Lalani, diplomats, and influential members of the Pakistani-American community from Texas and the DMV area.

Ambassador Sheikh praised Congressman Green for his significant role in enhancing the connection between the two countries, emphasizing that his commitment has been instrumental in promoting mutual understanding and collaboration.

The Sitara-i-Khidmat, one of Pakistan’s highest civilian honors, recognizes individuals who have rendered exceptional services to the country. Congressman Green’s continued advocacy for a stronger partnership between Pakistan and the U.S. has made a significant impact in political and diplomatic spheres.

Recalling the visit of Congressman Al Green to Pakistan during devastating floods of 2022, the Ambassador observed that Representative Al Green not only travelled to Pakistan to express his solidarity with the people of Pakistan at a most difficult time but he also returned to the US Congress to passionately advocate for timely assistance.

In addition to recognizing Congressman Green’s humanitarian efforts, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh also commended him for his crucial role in combating terrorism in the region and his support for key legislative measures, such as the Pakistan Enduring Assistance and Cooperation Enhancement Act of 2009.

Congressman Green, in turn, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the government and people of Pakistan for the honor. Reflecting on the long-standing partnership between the two nations, he emphasized his commitment to strengthening people-to-people connections.
