Karachi Investment Forum Indonesia Brings Sindh CM Murad's Push for Foreign Partnerships
KARACHI – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – Pakistan Indonesia investment forum brought together top leaders and business figures in Karachi this week, marking a fresh step toward stronger economic ties between the two nations. The event focused on trade growth, investment opportunities, and long-term cooperation across key sectors.
Indonesia’s embassy in Islamabad and its Consulate General in Karachi organised the forum. The Indonesia Investment Promotion Centre in Abu Dhabi also supported the event. Government officials, chamber leaders, investors, and academics from both countries attended the gathering.
Indonesia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Lt Gen (retd) Chandra W Sukotjo, spoke during the opening session. Consul General Mudzakir and FPCCI Acting President Saquib Fayyaz Magoon also addressed the audience. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah joined as the chief guest for the occasion.
Consul General Mudzakir said the forum reflects Indonesia’s ongoing effort to link business communities in both countries. He noted that Karachi holds a strategic position as Pakistan’s commercial and maritime hub. He added that the consulate general will keep supporting trade information and market access for businesses.
FPCCI’s Magoon pointed to the shared strength of both economies. He noted that Pakistan and Indonesia together form a market of more than 520 million people. He called for wider trade diversity, stronger business partnerships, better logistics, and quicker progress on a full economic partnership deal.
Ambassador Sukotjo asked both nations to turn their friendly ties into real economic gains. He described Indonesia as home to over 280 million people and a strong manufacturing and investment base. He also called it a gateway to Southeast Asian markets through Asean.
He said a future trade agreement should cover more than just goods. It should also include investment rules, service trade, quality standards, customs steps, and stronger supply chain links between the two countries.
Sindh CM Murad Indonesia investment plans took centre stage as the chief minister addressed the forum. He reaffirmed Sindh’s commitment to drawing in international investors. He pointed to strong potential in manufacturing, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, clean energy, healthcare, and digital technology.
CM Murad also highlighted openings in infrastructure, logistics, and data centres. He invited Indonesian businesses to explore partnerships across Sindh. He welcomed closer teamwork between government bodies and private companies from both sides.
The opening ceremony featured a special gong ceremony called “Resonance of Partnership.” The symbolic act represented the shared goal of both nations to build deeper economic ties.
During the business dialogue session, Indonesian speakers shared details on investment options and trade opportunities. They also discussed ways for private companies to work together more closely.
The forum wrapped up with networking sessions between business leaders from both countries. Organisers said the goal was to turn conversations into real, working partnerships going forward.
Overall, the event showed that Pakistan and Indonesia are ready to move past basic trade ties. Both sides now aim for long-term investment, shared growth, and lasting economic value.
