PESHAWAR – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s governor has asked Saudi Airlines to launch a direct flight Peshawar Madinah route. He said this step would bring real relief to the many families from the province who live and work in Saudi Arabia.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi shared this request during a meeting with Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki in Peshawar. The two leaders talked about the strong ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, along with fresh chances for trade and growth.
Kundi said a Peshawar Madinah flight is badly needed right now. He noted that most people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa work in the Two Holy Mosques area. He also said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share deep faith-based and brotherly bonds built over many years.
Saudi Arabia is home to one of the largest groups of Pakistani workers anywhere in the world. Many of these workers come from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Kingdom also sends the biggest share of money back to Pakistan through worker remittances every single year.
Millions of Pakistanis travel to Saudi Arabia each year. Some go for jobs, while others go for Hajj and Umrah. A direct flight Peshawar Madinah link would make this journey much simpler and faster. At present, most travelers must connect through other cities first, which adds both time and cost to their trip.
During the meeting, the KP governor Saudi Arabia talks also covered the province’s natural wealth. Kundi told the ambassador about Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s mineral resources, oil and gas reserves, and hydropower potential. He said the province supplies the cheapest electricity in the entire country.
Kundi described the friendship between the two nations as “unbreakable.” He said it rests on shared faith and shared history. He also said the hearts of Pakistani people beat with Saudi Arabia, pointing to the strong emotional bond between the two countries.
Ambassador Al-Malki thanked the governor for the warm welcome. He praised Kundi’s efforts in showing a positive image of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the world. The ambassador said the Saudi government and people remain proud of their long friendship with Pakistan.
This meeting shows both nations want closer ties, not just in faith but also in business and travel links. If Saudi Airlines agrees to start a Peshawar Madinah flight, it could bring real comfort to thousands of families. It would also help boost tourism and trade between the two regions.
For now, people across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remain hopeful. Many are waiting to see if Saudi Arabia will approve this new flight route soon.
