It is worth noting that US President Donald Trump had earlier credited China for playing a role in persuading Iran to agree to a two-week ceasefire ahead of the first round of talks held in Islamabad.

While Beijing has acknowledged its support for the truce, it has played down its direct involvement. However, analysts believe China’s engagement may be driven by broader strategic interests, including energy security and its positioning ahead of future interactions with the United States.

The development highlights China’s emerging role as a subtle yet influential actor in Middle Eastern diplomacy, potentially shaping future regional stability and global power dynamics.
