CDA and SGP Strengthen Collaboration for 3D Mapping of Islamabad

3D Maps to Enhance Urban Planning and Tackle Encroachments in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Survey General of Pakistan (SGP) have agreed to enhance their cooperation in acquiring advanced 3D mapping and high-resolution imagery to support the urban development of Islamabad.

In a meeting held on Saturday, CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa and SGP Head Major General Rafiq Ur Rehman discussed how SGP’s technical expertise could be leveraged for the city’s urban planning and development projects. The partnership aims to utilize cutting-edge digital mapping and real-time imagery with centimeter-level accuracy.

Chairman Randhawa emphasized that the acquisition of 3D maps and high-resolution images would play a key role in enhancing urban planning efforts, improving layout preparations, and addressing various urban challenges in Islamabad. He also pointed out that these technologies could aid in the early detection of land encroachments, which has been a growing issue in the capital.

Both organizations have agreed to form dedicated technical teams to streamline the collaboration and ensure effective implementation of the project.
