Ben Stokes Eyes Return for Second Test Against Pakistan in Multan
England captain hopeful for comeback after missing first Test victory
England captain Ben Stokes is aiming to make his comeback for the second Test against Pakistan, set to begin in Multan on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old all-rounder missed the first Test, which England comfortably won by an innings and 47 runs under the leadership of stand-in captain Ollie Pope.
An England team spokesperson confirmed that Stokes participated in Sunday’s practice session, showing encouraging signs of recovery. “Ben bowled about four overs at full pace today. He also completed some high-intensity running and had a 45-minute net session,” the spokesperson said.
Stokes has been recovering from a left hamstring tear sustained during The Hundred tournament in August, which also ruled him out of England’s recent 2-1 series win over Sri Lanka. Should he be declared fit, Stokes is likely to replace Chris Woakes in the playing XI.
England’s squad is usually announced two days before the Test, but the decision will be delayed until Monday as they await the final assessment of Stokes’s condition.
Meanwhile, the third and final Test of the series is scheduled for October 24 in Rawalpindi, adding to the anticipation of what has been an exciting contest so far.
