Babar Azam Dropped to Ensure Long-Term Mental and Physical Fitness

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed on Sunday the rationale behind excluding Babar Azam and other senior players from the ongoing Test series against England.

In a statement, the PCB noted, “Babar Azam is one of the finest players of his generation. The PCB is committed to ensuring Babar Azam remains mentally strong and continues to represent Pakistan in the future. After considering factors such as Pakistan’s international schedule, the need to bounce back in the England series, and the players’ current form, the decision was made to rest Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, Sarfraz Ahmed, and Shaheen Afridi.”

The PCB further explained, “This series offers an opportunity for young cricketers and domestic performers to showcase their talents against a strong England side.”

Previously, the PCB decided to drop Azam, Shah, Ahmed, and Afridi due to Pakistan’s recurring struggles in recent matches.
