Ayaz Sadiq Bars Anti-State Remarks in National Assembly
NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq Disallows Remarks Against State Institutions
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on Saturday stated that remarks targeting Pakistan, the judiciary, or the armed forces would not be permitted on the floor of the National Assembly.
According to an official handout issued by the NA Secretariat, the speaker made these remarks during a visit to the National College of Arts (NCA) in Lahore. He emphasized that negative or controversial statements regarding the judiciary, judges, or the armed forces were unacceptable and would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Ayaz Sadiq clarified that only remarks falling within the limits of the Constitution and the law would be allowed in parliamentary proceedings. He added that individuals who speak against Pakistan would not be given space to express such views in the National Assembly.

Reaffirming his role, the speaker said he would continue to act impartially while ensuring that parliamentary decorum is upheld. He also acknowledged that peaceful protest is a democratic right but stressed that it must remain within constitutional boundaries.
“There is no room for violence, arson, damage to property, or vandalism,” he said, warning that the use of sticks or weapons poses a serious threat to the rule of law.
The development comes weeks after Senate Deputy Chairman Syedal Khan Nasar issued a similar directive, barring criticism of national heroes and state institutions in the Senate. He had emphasized that while members are free to express opinions, such expression must align with constitutional principles, parliamentary rules, and long-established traditions.
