ATC issues arrest warrants for 96 PTI leaders, including Imran Khan & Bushra Bibi, over D-Chowk protest

ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has issued arrest warrants for 96 individuals, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and several senior party leaders, in connection with a recent protest at D-Chowk.
The arrest warrants were obtained by the Kohsar police and issued by ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra. Among the prominent figures named are Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Shoaib Shaheen, Ali Bukhari, Aamir Mughal, Zulfi Bukhari, Faisal Javed, Murad Saeed, and Salman Akram Raja. Additionally, federal and provincial officials, including Omar Ayub, Sher Afzal Marwat, Raoof Hassan, Shahram Tarakai, and Khalid Khurshid, are also listed in the warrants.
In a separate development, the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court sent Imran Khan to jail on judicial remand in a case related to inciting workers to protest. The case was heard by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah at Adiala Jail. Khan’s judicial remand follows the completion of his physical remand in the New Town police station case, which ended on Monday. The court had previously extended Khan’s physical remand on November 26 for six days.

Meanwhile, authorities have made significant progress in investigating the various cases registered in Islamabad in connection with the PTI-led protest. A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been formed to investigate eight cases filed at police stations including Khanna, Tarnol, Sangjani, Golra, and Kohsar. The JIT, which comprises representatives from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and Islamabad police, will collect statements from witnesses and suspects. The investigation will also cover cases filed at the Secretariat and Karachi Company police stations. The JIT will be led by a representative from the capital police.
