Türkiye Defends Pakistan Relations, Says Not Directed Against India

ANKARA: (Web Desk) – Türkiye has said that its close relations with Pakistan should not be viewed as a concern for India, emphasizing that bilateral ties are not directed against any third country.

According to a report by the Hindustan Times, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made the remarks during a lecture at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in Singapore, where he addressed questions about Türkiye’s foreign policy and regional partnerships.

Fidan stated that Türkiye’s “brotherly” relations with Pakistan should not be interpreted as hostility toward India, stressing that cooperation between sovereign states should not automatically be seen through a competitive or adversarial lens.

He further noted that Türkiye is not the only country maintaining strong relations with Pakistan, adding that several nations also engage positively with Islamabad across diplomatic and economic domains.

The Turkish foreign minister questioned why India would consider such relationships a matter of concern, suggesting that this reflects a broader misunderstanding of international diplomatic norms.

His comments come amid continuing sensitivities in South Asian geopolitics, where Türkiye–Pakistan relations are often closely observed in the context of India’s regional foreign policy considerations.
