AJK PM Marks “Yom-e-Istehsal”: India’s Actions on August 5, 2019, a “Dark Day” in Kashmir’s History

Muzaffarabad(Raja Shoaib Mehmood)AJK PM Marks “Yom-e-Istehsal”: India’s Actions on August 5, 2019, a “Dark Day” in Kashmir’s History, Azad Jammu and Kashmir – Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq has strongly condemned India’s actions on August 5, 2019, describing it as a “darkest day” in Kashmir’s history. In a special message on “Yom-e-Istehsal”, he denounced the Indian government’s abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A as a violation of UN resolutions and an act of constitutional aggression aimed at stripping the region of its special status.

Haq accused India of attempting to alter the demographic composition of Jammu and Kashmir, issuing domicile certificates to extremist Hindus and former military personnel to settle them in the region. He highlighted the severe restrictions, communication blackout, and intensified oppression that followed, turning Jammu and Kashmir into the world’s largest open-air prison.

The Prime Minister expressed concern over the global community’s indifference to the humanitarian crisis in Kashmir, emphasizing that the region remains under severe restrictions, with bans on religious practices and curtailment of civil liberties. He praised the resilience of the Kashmiri people and thanked Pakistan for its unwavering support.

Haq urged the United Nations to enforce its resolutions and called on international human rights organizations to speak out against the atrocities and human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed that peace in the region can only be achieved through the right to self-determination as promised by the United Nations.
