Crackdown on Gas Theft Continues: 220 Connections Disconnected, Rs 4.5 Million Fine Imposed

In Sahiwal, five connections were disconnected for illegal gas use, while one was disconnected for compressor usage.

Lahore: In a relentless effort to curb gas theft, the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has intensified its crackdown across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Islamabad, resulting in the disconnection of 220 illegal connections and imposing fines totaling Rs 4.5 million.

In Lahore, the regional team of SNGPL took swift action by disconnecting 26 connections found to be engaged in the illegal use of gas. Similarly, in Rawalpindi, two connections were disconnected, leading to a fine of Rs 0.07 million against gas theft cases. In Multan, 8 connections were disconnected for illegal gas usage, while another 15 were disconnected for using compressors, accompanied by a fine of Rs 0.45 million.

The crackdown extended to Peshawar and Karak, where the company disconnected 108 connections due to direct and illegal gas usage, resulting in fines amounting to Rs 3.82 million. Furthermore, the team lodged 10 First Information Reports (FIRs) against gas pilferers to ensure stringent legal action.

In Sahiwal, five connections were disconnected for illegal gas use, while one was disconnected for compressor usage. Sheikhupura saw 49 connections disconnected for illegal gas usage and one for compressor usage, with fines of Rs 0.04 million imposed against gas theft cases. Similarly, in Faisalabad, the team disconnected five connections for illegal gas usage and imposed a fine of Rs 0.16 million.

The proactive measures taken by SNGPL underscore its commitment to ensuring the fair distribution and utilization of gas resources.
