IHC suspends notifications of all three Islamabad constituencies

IHC Renders Verdict on PTI-Backed Candidates’ Petitions Against ECP’s Election Results Notification.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) notifications declaring the returned candidates for all three constituencies of Islamabad.

The verdict was issued by the IHC in response to petitions filed by three Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed candidates challenging the election results notifications issued by the ECP.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the IHC presided over the hearing of petitions filed by Amir Mughal, Shoaib Shaheen, and Mohammad Ali Bukhari. These petitions contested the notification issued by the ECP, which declared their opponents, Anjum Aqeel Khan, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz, as the returned candidates from NA-46, NA-47, and NA-48 respectively.

The decision by the IHC to suspend the ECP’s notifications underscores the judiciary’s commitment to upholding transparency and fairness in the electoral process. This ruling provides a legal recourse for the petitioners to challenge the election results, ensuring that due process is followed and electoral grievances are addressed impartially.

The suspension of the ECP’s notifications marks a crucial step towards resolving electoral disputes and upholding the rule of law. It demonstrates the IHC’s proactive approach in addressing legal challenges and upholding the principles of justice and transparency in the electoral process.
