Nawaz Sharif challenges NA-15 Mansehra election result

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif has formally contested the election result of National Assembly constituency NA-15 Mansehra.

Independent candidate Shehzad Muhammad Gashtasab Khan emerged victorious in the unofficial tally, securing 105,249 votes, while Nawaz Sharif garnered 80,382 votes.

In his application to the Election Commission, Sharif raised concerns about the logistical challenges faced by several areas in Mansehra due to heavy snowfall, which caused communication disruptions during the voting process.

He argued that these difficulties may have affected voter turnout and the integrity of the election.

As a result, Sharif requested that the outcome of NA-15 Mansehra be withheld pending a thorough investigation and resolution of the issues raised. The Election Commission will now review the application and consider the merits of Sharif’s challenge.
