Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Thursday announced to dissolve assemblies on August 9 during a gathering of the parliamentarians at Prime Minister House,
Citing its sources, the channel reported that the PM gave the final date after holding the consultative meetings with different political leaders of the coalition government before the start of the dinner he hosted in honour of the parliamentarians.
The National Assembly will automatically stand dissolved on August 12 after completing its term with a caretaker set up to take the reins for 60 days.
However, if the assembly is dissolved before the completion of the constitutional term the election could be delayed for another months as the constitutional requirement in this case would be to hold elections in 90 days.
In a show of hospitality and camaraderie, PM Shehbaz hosted a lavish dinner in honour of the Members of the National Assembly and the Senate at the Prime Minister’s House. It was a farewell dinner before the incumbent government completes its term in office.
While,
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Thursday exchanged views on the country’s political situation.
Bhutto-Zardari apprised the premier of the various matters pertaining to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
On the other hand, SAPM Awn Chaudhry, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) chief Shahzain Bugti and Communication Minister Maulana Asad Mahmood also reached the PM House.
Separately, PM Shehbaz said he was highly grateful to Chinese President Xi Jinping for his message of support and solidarity with Pakistan on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor.
In a social media post, the prime minister said: “Xi Jinping emphasis on building CPEC into an exemplary project of high quality Belt and Road Cooperation reflects his commitment to the well-being of the people of Pakistan”.
