Apple Unveils M6 MacBook Pro and iMac With Faster AI Performance
New Apple MacBook Pro Promises Faster AI Performance
The company announced the new devices on Tuesday, with the 14-inch MacBook Pro starting at $1,999 and the iMac priced from $1,499.
According to Apple, pre-orders for both products will begin Wednesday across 35 countries and regions, including the United States. The devices are scheduled to become available on November 6.
Apple said the M6-powered MacBook Pro delivers up to 30 per cent faster graphics performance and up to 25 per cent faster AI processing compared with its predecessor, the M5 model. The laptop also offers up to 24 hours of battery life, which the company describes as the longest ever for a Mac.
The new iMac also brings significant improvements in AI processing. Apple claims the desktop computer delivers up to five times faster on-device AI performance than the previous M4-powered model.
The enhanced capabilities are aimed at running AI workloads directly on devices, potentially reducing reliance on cloud-based processing for supported tasks.
The launches come a day before Apple’s planned “Pro and tell” event in Los Angeles on October 28. Bloomberg News has reported that the event is expected to feature the company’s first MacBook Pro with a touchscreen.
The latest announcements highlight Apple’s continued focus on combining improved computing performance with AI capabilities across its Mac lineup.
