Pakistan, Malaysia Agree to Boost Rice, Halal Trade

ISLAMABAD: (News Desk) – Pakistan and Malaysia have agreed to enhance cooperation in rice exports, Halal certification standards and food security, with both sides seeking to expand agricultural trade and market access.
The understanding was reached during a series of high-level meetings in Kuala Lumpur between Malaysian authorities and a Pakistani delegation led by Secretary for National Food Security and Research Amer Ali Ahmed.
The discussions primarily focused on increasing Pakistani rice exports to Malaysia and improving market linkages between the two countries.
The two sides also reaffirmed Pakistan’s participation in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase and discussed closer cooperation in Halal certification, agricultural supply chains and market access for Halal-certified food and agricultural products.
The talks covered a broad range of areas in the Halal agri-food sector, including rice, meat, poultry, fisheries and aquaculture technologies, animal vaccines, biosecurity measures and Halal gelatin supplies.
The engagements reflect a shared commitment to strengthening agricultural cooperation, expanding bilateral trade and promoting safe, high-quality and Halal-certified food products, while contributing to regional food security.
