KP-Islamabad Routes Reopen After PTI Postpones Long March for Week

ISLAMABAD: (News Desk) – Routes connecting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Islamabad have started reopening after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) postponed its planned long march by one week.

Traffic has resumed on the GT Road at Khairabad in Attock after remaining suspended for four days. Meanwhile, authorities are removing blockades from the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway (M-1), where sandbags, metal sheets and containers had been placed to restrict the movement of PTI protesters.

Traffic has also returned to normal at entry points into Punjab in the Taxila area. However, the M-14, also known as the CPEC route, remains closed in parts of Mianwali.

The PTI had originally planned to begin its Islamabad long march on September 27, but the party has now announced that the march will depart from Peshawar on October 4.

Despite the postponement, security arrangements in Islamabad remain in place. The number of containers around the capital’s Red Zone has reportedly increased as authorities continue preparations ahead of the revised protest date.
