Canada Imposes Sanctions on 10 Iranian Individuals and Entities
Iranian Interior Minister Among 10 Targeted by Canada
OTTAWA: (News Desk) – Canada has imposed sanctions on 10 Iranian individuals and entities, citing their alleged involvement in the Iranian government’s repression and human rights violations.
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand said Ottawa was using all available measures to respond to what she described as the Iranian government’s reprehensible actions.
In a statement, Anand said the measures were aimed at addressing actions that Canada considers threats to international peace and security as well as widespread violations of human rights.
According to the Canadian government, the sanctions target senior Iranian security and government officials, along with state-linked entities accused of involvement in digital repression.
Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni is among those included in the latest sanctions package.
The Canadian government said the measures reflect its continued efforts to hold Iranian officials and organizations accountable for actions that Ottawa says undermine human rights and security.
