Momina Iqbal Controversy Takes New Turn After MPA Interview
Saqib Chadhar Reveals His Side in Momina Iqbal Controversy
ISLAMABAD: (News Desk) – The controversy involving Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal and PML-N Punjab MPA Saqib Chadhar has taken a fresh turn after Chadhar discussed their alleged past relationship and the allegations surrounding their separation in an interview with journalist Irshad Bhatti.
Speaking during the interview, Chadhar claimed that his relationship with Momina began with the intention of marriage rather than as an affair. He said he first saw the actress at a friend’s wedding and expressed his desire to marry her.
According to Chadhar, they later met at a restaurant in DHA after being introduced by the same friend. He claimed that he subsequently sent a marriage proposal to Momina’s family and that both families accepted it. He further alleged that their engagement took place at Momina’s residence in January 2020 in the presence of family members.
Chadhar maintained that he had serious intentions from the beginning and did not view the relationship as an “extra affair.”
The MPA also questioned Momina’s reported statements about being afraid of flying. He claimed that the actress had travelled with him on several flights during their relationship and presented flight booking records during the interview. The records, as discussed by Bhatti, included domestic travel between Karachi and Islamabad as well as international bookings involving Dubai.
Chadhar said he had arranged the tickets for their trips and argued that the records demonstrated that they had travelled together on multiple occasions.
The discussion also covered allegations involving gifts and other belongings exchanged during the relationship. Chadhar said his earlier comments were intended to present his version of events and denied that he had demanded Momina return items he had given her.

During the interview, Bhatti also questioned Chadhar about an alleged phone call involving his wife. According to the allegation discussed, Chadhar’s wife had supposedly warned Momina to return belongings and threatened to create difficulties for her marriage. Chadhar rejected the allegation and said no such incident had occurred.
He nevertheless issued a strong warning about what could happen if his wife decided to publicly discuss the matter, suggesting that her account could create further controversy. Chadhar also denied that his wife had attempted to prevent Momina from marrying someone else, claiming instead that she wanted the actress to move forward with her life.
Chadhar further alleged that Momina had known from the outset that he was married and had children. He claimed that she had met members of his family and had also visited his village, where she allegedly met his siblings and their children.
When questioned about his marriages and the consequences of his actions, Chadhar acknowledged that he had made a mistake. He said he regretted his actions in retrospect and accepted that he should not have acted in that manner.
The interview comes amid an ongoing dispute in which both sides have presented contrasting accounts. Momina has previously spoken about alleged online harassment, cyberbullying and death threats and has sought action from the relevant authorities.
Chadhar has denied the allegations and has now publicly offered his account of the relationship, including their alleged engagement, travel together and the circumstances surrounding their separation.
The latest interview has once again pushed the controversy into the spotlight, with Chadhar’s claims generating fresh discussion on social media. However, the allegations and counter-allegations remain disputed, and the two sides continue to present different versions of events.
