Imran Khan’s Sons – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – A fresh PCB Sky Sports interview dispute has grabbed attention during the ongoing Lord’s Test between England and Pakistan. The row broke out on the opening day when the broadcaster aired a sensitive interview with the sons of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan.
The Pakistan Cricket Board reportedly reached out to Sky ahead of the lunch break to raise concerns. Sources say the board even warned that Pakistan’s players might refuse to return to the field after lunch if the interview went ahead as planned.
Talks between the two sides continued for some time. Sky eventually chose to delay the segment briefly before airing the full eighteen minute clip later in the day.
The interview was conducted by former England captain Mike Atherton. Khan’s sons, Suleiman and Kasim, used the platform to share their growing worry about their father’s wellbeing.
Both brothers admitted they fear for his life given how long he has already spent behind bars. Their remarks quickly spread across social media and added fresh pressure on an already tense situation.
Imran Khan’s family has long claimed he is being held in solitary confinement at Adiala jail. These claims have never been confirmed by officials but keep resurfacing whenever his health becomes a talking point.
Just last week, Pakistan’s Supreme Court had directed authorities to move Khan to Shifa International Hospital for a proper medical checkup. Instead, he was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, where doctors from Shifa were reportedly present as well.
According to Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Khan’s examination took place with his sister and personal doctors present. The government maintains that proper medical protocols were followed during this process.
However, several former international captains disagree with that version of events. Twenty one former captains recently wrote to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, saying the hospital visit lasted only a few hours and did not match what the court had actually ordered.
Their letter claimed Khan was examined by a state appointed team rather than the medical board the court had specifically named. They also said he was declared fit and sent back to jail before that board could finish its work.
Jemima Goldsmith, Khan’s former wife, has also joined the growing list of voices demanding action. She recently urged British leaders including the prime minister and foreign secretary to stop staying silent on the matter.
She described her ex husband’s treatment as harsh and said he has already endured years of isolation. Her comments added an international dimension to a story that was already drawing plenty of attention.
By the time the interview ended, Pakistan’s players were already heading back onto the field for the second session. The match resumed as scheduled, but the controversy off the pitch is unlikely to fade quickly.
