Prosecution Seeks Certified Copies to Challenge Pinky’s Acquittal

KARACHI: (Staff Reporter) – The prosecution has moved to challenge the acquittal of alleged drug dealer Anmol, alias Pinky, in three narcotics cases by seeking certified copies of the court’s decisions.

According to prosecution sources, an application for the certified copies was submitted on Saturday as authorities consider legal options against the acquittal. The sources questioned the basis of the decision, claiming that Anmol had neither been formally indicted nor had witness statements been recorded in the cases.

On Thursday, a sessions court in Karachi acquitted Anmol in three narcotics cases registered at Gizri Police Station in 2020, 2021 and 2022. She had previously been declared an absconder in connection with the cases.

Additional District and Sessions Judge South Irshad Hussain heard Anmol’s petitions seeking acquittal.

During the proceedings, Anmol’s lawyer argued that she had been implicated in the cases primarily on the basis of statements allegedly given by co-accused persons who were subsequently acquitted.

The defence maintained that following the acquittal of the co-accused, there was insufficient legal basis to proceed against Anmol in the three cases.

Anmol was arrested on May 12, 2026, during a joint operation conducted by Karachi Police and a federal intelligence agency in the Garden area of Karachi.

Police claimed that around 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, a 9mm pistol and chemicals allegedly used in the production of cocaine were recovered during the operation.

Authorities subsequently linked Anmol to several other cases registered in Karachi and Lahore. The number of cases cited by police and investigators has varied at different stages, while an interim challan submitted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in July listed 21 cases.

Police have accused Anmol of involvement in drug trafficking and of allegedly operating an organised drug network. The allegations also include offences under narcotics and weapons laws, as well as attempted murder and murder.

The allegations remain subject to judicial proceedings, and Anmol continues to face several other cases despite her acquittal in the three Gizri narcotics cases.
