Noskova vs Muchova: All-Czech Wimbledon Final

Noskova vs Muchova to Decide Wimbledon Women's Title on Saturday

LONDON – (Special Corrspondent/Web Desk) – Linda Noskova booked her spot in the Noskova Wimbledon final after beating Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk 6-4, 6-4 on a scorching Centre Court afternoon. The ninth seed needed just 79 minutes to close out the win, brushing aside the 12th-seeded Kostyuk despite temperatures touching 33 degrees Celsius.

The victory means fans now get to watch Noskova vs Muchova in the Wimbledon women’s final, a rare all-Czech clash that will decide the title on Saturday.

Noskova, only 21, had never gone past the quarter-final stage at any Grand Slam before this fortnight. That drought is now history. She will walk out for her first major final full of belief after a tournament where she has looked calm under pressure.

“I just tried to keep cool, be as patient as possible and somehow get the last point,” Noskova said after the win. She added that reaching a Grand Slam final shows she can compete with the very best when her game clicks.

Her opponent, Karolina Muchova, is the tenth seed and reached the final after a gripping three-set battle against Coco Gauff earlier in the day. Both women carry the Czech flag into a match that feels bigger than just a normal final.

This is the third time in four years that a Czech woman has lifted, or fought for, the Wimbledon crown. Barbora Krejcikova won in 2024, and Marketa Vondrousova took the title in 2023. Czech tennis has long punched above its weight at the All England Club.

Noskova has openly credited Petra Kvitova, the two-time Wimbledon champion, as her childhood idol. Jana Novotna’s emotional 1998 win, after two heartbreaking final losses, remains part of that same proud lineage.

Interestingly, this will be only the second time since 2009 that two players from the same country meet in a Wimbledon women’s final. The last instance was Serena Williams beating her sister Venus.

Kostyuk arrived at this semi-final in red-hot form, having won 21 of her previous 22 matches. Her only loss in that stretch came against Mirra Andreeva at the French Open. Yet grass has proven a tough surface for her to crack at the final hurdle once again.

Noskova, meanwhile, has quietly been building one of the best grass-court records on tour. She has won more matches on grass than any other player over the past two seasons and captured her first title on the surface earlier this year in Berlin.

Her win over Belgian 25th seed Elise Mertens in the semis also made her the youngest Wimbledon semi-finalist since Jelena Ostapenko back in 2018.

The opening set against Kostyuk was tight and tense, decided only when Kostyuk double-faulted on set point. Noskova capitalised immediately in the second set, racing to a 3-1 lead before Kostyuk clawed one break back. But Noskova stayed composed, sealing victory when Kostyuk’s forehand drifted long on match point.

Saturday’s final promises pure Czech tennis pride, with Noskova chasing a fairytale maiden Grand Slam title against a familiar and respected compatriot.
