President Zardari Pays Tribute to Kyrgyzstan’s Historical Legacy
The two sides discussed measures to enhance inter-parliamentary engagement
BISHKEK: (Staff Reporter) – President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to Kyrgyzstan’s national martyrs and historical legacy during his official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic, while also holding talks aimed at strengthening parliamentary and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The president visited the Ata-Beit Memorial Complex in Chong-Tash, a prominent historical site that serves as the final resting place of several Kyrgyz national figures. He laid a wreath at the central monument and honoured those who sacrificed their lives during different periods of the country’s history and struggle for independence.
President Zardari also toured the Ata-Beit Memorial Museum, where he viewed artefacts documenting Kyrgyzstan’s path to sovereignty. The site also includes a memorial for renowned Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov, who is buried at the complex.
Earlier, President Zardari was seen off at Issyk-Kul Airport in Tamchy by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov. Upon his arrival at Manas International Airport in Bishkek, he was received by Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Mamataliev Marlen Abdyrakhmanovich and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Altamash Wazir Khan.
Later, the Kyrgyz parliament speaker called on President Zardari along with senior members of the Kyrgyz Parliament. The two sides discussed measures to enhance inter-parliamentary engagement, expand bilateral trade and promote people-to-people contacts.
President Zardari stressed that stronger parliamentary ties were important for ensuring continuity and stability in bilateral relations. The Kyrgyz speaker welcomed the president and appreciated Pakistan’s longstanding friendship with the Kyrgyz Republic.
