Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Quits PPP, Joins IPP

Former AJK PM Tanveer Ilyas Joins IPP Ahead of Key Elections

Azad Jammu and Kashmir -(Web Desk) – Sardar Tanveer Ilyas joins IPP just days after he quit the Pakistan Peoples Party. The former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir made the move public on Wednesday.

The announcement came right after he met IPP President Aleem Khan. State Minister Awn Choudhary was also present at the meeting.

Aleem Khan welcomed Ilyas to the party in a warm way. He gave him the IPP party muffler as a symbol of his new political home.

Before this, Ilyas had left PPP over a ticket dispute. He wanted party tickets for Bagh Central, Pachiot, Upper Neelum and Rawalakot City.

Sources say the Bagh Central seat caused the biggest problem. Talks between him and PPP leaders could not solve this issue.

Another AJK minister, Ali Shan Soni, also left PPP around the same time. His exit has added more worry inside the party.

The AJK Election Commission has already set the poll date. Voters across the region will cast their votes on July 27.

This will be the first AJK election since July 2021. Many political shifts are now happening just weeks before voting day.
