Iran, Russia Discuss Regional Stability and Peace
Araghchi, Lavrov Exchange Views on Middle East Tensions
TEHRAN: (Web Desk) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation to discuss regional developments, humanitarian concerns, and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting stability across the Middle East.
During the discussion, Araghchi briefed Lavrov on the details of a recently concluded memorandum of understanding as well as progress surrounding a draft agreement between Iran and the United States.
The two top diplomats exchanged views on key regional security issues and emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomatic engagement in addressing conflicts and reducing tensions.
A major focus of the conversation was the protection of civilians amid continuing instability in parts of the region. Both ministers stressed the need to safeguard civilian populations and support initiatives that contribute to peace and humanitarian relief.
They also discussed the situation in Lebanon, highlighting concerns over ongoing Israeli military actions and warning that further escalation could negatively impact efforts to achieve lasting regional stability.

Lavrov welcomed the draft agreement between Iran and the United States, describing it as a constructive development that could help reduce tensions and encourage greater regional cooperation.
The Russian foreign minister reaffirmed Moscow’s support for the implementation of the agreement and expressed hope that it would contribute to long-term peace and security in the Middle East.
Lavrov also called on the international community and the United Nations Security Council to support the memorandum of understanding, stressing that broad international backing would be essential for the successful implementation of the accord.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to diplomatic solutions and international cooperation as the most effective means of addressing regional challenges and advancing stability.
