Babar Azam Test Record: A Historic Milestone in Cricket

Babar Azam Test Record Shines in Bangladesh Clash

Babar Azam – (Web Desk) – Babar Azam has set a new babar azam test record by becoming the only batter in the world to cross 9,000 international runs in the 2020s. He reached this landmark during the second Test against Bangladesh at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Babar played a gritty knock of 68 runs off 84 balls, hitting 10 boundaries along the way. It was his 212th international appearance of the decade — a clear sign of his hard work and consistency across all formats.

In this decade alone, Babar has scored 67 half-centuries and 17 centuries at an average of 42.53. No other batter in the world has come close to matching this output in the 2020s.

England’s Joe Root sits second on the list with 8,305 runs from 120 matches. Pakistan’s own Mohammad Rizwan is third with 7,779 runs from 199 appearances — another strong showing for Pakistan cricket.

The top run scorers in international cricket this decade tell a clear story. Babar leads with 9,060 runs, followed by Root with 8,305, Rizwan with 7,779, Kusal Mendis with 7,046, Pathum Nissanka with 6,873, Virat Kohli with 6,771, and Litton Das with 6,763.

On top of this, Babar joined an elite group in World Test Championship history. His 20th fifty in WTC cricket — his 31st Test half-century overall — put him in joint third place alongside Australia’s Steve Smith and England’s Zak Crawley.

Marnus Labuschagne of Australia leads the WTC fifty list with 24 half-centuries. Joe Root sits just behind with 22. Babar now shares third spot with 20 each alongside Smith and Crawley.

Despite Babar’s heroics, Bangladesh had the upper hand at the end of day two. Pakistan were bowled out for 232 in their first innings, giving Bangladesh a 46-run lead. The hosts then reached 110 for 3 in their second innings, stretching their overall lead to 156 runs. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was unbeaten on 13 as the day ended.
