Health Department Issues Alert Over Unsafe Drug Batches

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The Health and Population Department has issued an urgent alert regarding three suspected unsafe drug batches, warning patients suffering from allergies, anemia, and infections to remain cautious while using medicines.

According to a private news channel report, specific batches of cefoperazone sodium (sufiferazone sodium), mecobalamin, and dexamethasone have been identified as potentially harmful and unsuitable for medical use. Authorities have ordered their immediate removal from pharmacies and distribution networks.

Officials clarified that cefoperazone sodium is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections, mecobalamin is commonly prescribed for anemia and nerve health, while dexamethasone is used to treat allergic reactions and inflammatory conditions.

Health authorities have instructed pharmacists, hospitals, and distributors to stop selling the affected batches and ensure their swift withdrawal from the market. Further investigation is underway to determine the source and prevent further distribution of the unsafe drugs.
