ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – A special ceremony was held at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad to mark the completion of one year of Operation Bunyan Marsus and Marka-e-Haq, featuring a grand fireworks display and full participation from top civil and military leadership.
The event was attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, along with the heads of the armed forces, federal ministers, parliamentarians, foreign diplomats, civil and military officials, and families of martyrs. The ceremony began with the national anthem, followed by a smartly turned-out parade by the three armed forces and a minute of silence in honour of the fallen.
In his address, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the martyrs and said Pakistan responded strongly to what he termed unprovoked aggression. He said the armed forces delivered a decisive response during the conflict and that the enemy was forced into a ceasefire. He also announced that May 10 would be observed annually as the “Day of Struggle for Truth.”

The prime minister praised the leadership of the armed forces, including Field Marshal Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar, and Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf, crediting them for the country’s defence preparedness and response. He also thanked several international leaders, including US President Donald Trump, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Chinese President Xi Jinping, for diplomatic support.
Shehbaz Sharif further stated that Pakistan continues to support peace efforts in the region, including Iran, and reiterated the country’s longstanding positions on Palestine and Kashmir.
President Asif Ali Zardari, in his remarks, said May 10 marks an important chapter in national history, claiming that Pakistan’s armed forces effectively responded to aggression and shot down enemy aircraft. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued political, diplomatic, and moral support for the people of Kashmir.
