JUI chief demands justice, announces protest movement nationwide

CHARSADDA: (Web Desk) – Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, has announced nationwide protest demonstrations after Friday prayers on May 8, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible for the killing of former provincial MPA and religious scholar Maulana Muhammad Idrees.

During his visit to Charsadda, Maulana Fazlur Rehman went to the residence of the late Maulana Idrees to offer condolences and paid tribute to his services. He described the killing as a tragic loss for the Muslim community and condemned violence over differences of opinion, calling it an act of ignorance.

Speaking to the media, he said the incident had deeply shaken the religious community and stressed that scholars stand firmly with the Constitution of Pakistan. He reiterated that carrying weapons within the country is not acceptable under their unanimous stance.

He further urged state institutions and authorities to fulfill their responsibility by bringing the perpetrators to justice. He added that those responsible for the killing must be arrested without delay, calling it a test of the system’s effectiveness.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman also said that the party believes in peace and stability, and the scholars are committed to maintaining law and order while continuing their struggle for justice through peaceful means.
