UAE Arrests Iran Linked Group Over Terror Plot

Gulf Crackdown Intensifies Against Iran Linked Networks

DUBAI: (Web Desk) – Authorities in the United Arab Emirates announced on Monday the arrest of individuals linked to an Iran-backed group accused of planning terrorist activities within the country. Officials said the network was attempting to recruit Emirati citizens and channel funds to suspicious foreign organizations.

The crackdown comes as Gulf nations intensify efforts against groups associated with Iran and its ally Hezbollah, following heightened tensions during the ongoing regional conflict. Prior to a recent two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran, the UAE experienced multiple Iranian attacks, most of which were successfully intercepted.

According to the State Security Department, authorities dismantled the group and detained its members for allegedly plotting coordinated acts of sabotage and terrorism. Investigations revealed connections to the Velayat-e Faqih doctrine in Iran.

Officials released images of 27 suspects but did not disclose their nationalities. Charges include forming and managing a covert organization within the UAE, pledging loyalty to foreign entities, and undermining national unity.

Authorities further stated that the group collected and transferred funds abroad and conducted secret meetings aimed at indoctrinating recruits and gaining access to sensitive positions. The suspects also allegedly attempted to influence Emirati youth with misleading narratives and promote agendas aligned with foreign interests.

The arrests follow similar actions across the Gulf region. Recently, the UAE detained members of another network tied to Iran and Hezbollah, while neighboring Bahrain and Kuwait have also reported comparable crackdowns.
