Washington (Web Desk)- Donald Trump has stated that the United States will ensure the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, regardless of whether Iran cooperates, underscoring the strategic importance of the vital oil route.
Speaking to reporters before departing Washington, D.C., Trump indicated that restoring access to the key maritime passage is a top priority and suggested that the process could be completed quickly if diplomatic efforts succeed.
At the same time, he emphasized that the central objective of ongoing peace negotiations is to ensure that Tehran does not develop nuclear weapons. “That’s the main goal,” he said, describing it as the overwhelming priority in any potential agreement.

As part of these diplomatic efforts, Trump has sent J. D. Vance to Pakistan, where meetings with senior Iranian representatives are expected. The discussions follow a recently agreed two-week ceasefire aimed at reducing tensions.
The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz—through which a significant share of global oil supply flows—is expected to be a key topic during the talks taking place in Islamabad.
Observers note that while maritime security and trade routes are critical concerns, the broader negotiations will largely hinge on nuclear assurances and long-term regional stability.
