Ayesha Omar backs Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Bollywood critique
Bollywood authenticity debate gains support from Ayesha Omar
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Ayesha Omar has publicly expressed support for Nawazuddin Siddiqui, applauding his critique of Bollywood’s current filmmaking trends and calling for honesty and authenticity in cinema.
During his appearance at NDTV Creators’ Manch Season 2, Siddiqui criticized the state of Hindi cinema, stating, “Bollywood men jhooti filmain ban rahi hain, sachai sab jantay hain,” which translates to, “Fake films are being made in Bollywood, everyone knows the truth.” He emphasized that filmmakers should prioritize truthful storytelling rather than producing films driven solely by commercial interests.

Siddiqui highlighted that modern audiences are discerning and can easily distinguish between authentic narratives and fabricated or propagandist content. He warned that prioritizing “jhoothi” stories undermines the credibility and impact of cinema.
Sharing his statement on social media, Ayesha Omar endorsed his perspective, commenting, “We all know the truth now,” signaling her agreement with the call for realism and integrity in films.
Siddiqui’s remarks echo similar critiques by veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, who recently remarked that Bollywood lacks originality and suggested that “Korean films are 100 times better than Indian films.” Together, these statements have sparked a growing conversation in the industry about creativity, authenticity, and the social responsibility of filmmakers.
