Another earthquake shakes Islamabad, KP cities, causing panic
A 4.5-magnitude earthquake shakes Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and KP; residents remain safe, authorities monitoring situation closely across northern Pakistan.
KP Islamabad – (Web Desk) – (Web Desk) – A 4.5-magnitude earthquake shook Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and several cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday at 9:27 am. Tremors were also felt in Haripur, Khanpur, and Swabi. The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported the quake lasted only a few seconds, with its epicenter in the northern region.
Many residents said they felt their homes and offices shake, prompting some to rush outside for safety. Authorities confirmed there were no immediate reports of injuries or major damage.
Seismologists noted that moderate earthquakes are common in northern Pakistan due to tectonic activity in the Himalayan region. They advised people to stay calm and follow safety precautions.
This comes a day after a stronger 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck northern Pakistan on Friday, with tremors also felt in the federal capital and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The National Seismic Monitoring Centre reported the Friday quake’s epicenter was in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region, at a depth of 73 kilometers.
Tremors were reported in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as well as across multiple areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Swat, Mardan, and surrounding localities, Lower Dir, Malakand, Chitral, Khyber, Bara, Jamrud, Landi Kotal, and Tirah.

Residents in several cities rushed out of homes and office buildings in fear, reciting prayers as the tremors subsided.
Authorities said no immediate reports of casualties or property damage had been received. Relevant departments are assessing the situation.
