US Sanctions Uzbek Nationals Over Illegal Immigration Network

US sanctions Uzbek visa officials for aiding illegal immigration, as President Mirziyoyev attends Trump’s Board of Peace meeting.

US vs Uzbekistan – (Web Desk) – On Thursday, the United States announced sanctions against officials from an Uzbek visa company linked to an illegal immigration network. The move came as Uzbekistan’s leader visited Washington to attend President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace Council” meeting.

According to the State Department, Washington is “taking measures to restrict visas for individuals in Uzbekistan who are knowingly helping people immigrate illegally” to the U.S. The sanctions target executives and senior officials of two Uzbek visa facilitation companies, though the agencies themselves were not named.

The State Department said the companies were providing travel services for migrants to illegally enter the United States.

It accused them of facilitating travel “through airports and across borders to transit points in Central America,” where many then tried to enter the United States illegally.

Washington “will not tolerate any attempts to undermine our national security or immigration laws,” it said.

The announcement of the sanctions came as Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the inaugural meeting of Trump’s “Board of Peace” in Washington on Thursday.
