Suicide blast during Friday prayers at Islamabad Imambargah leaves worshippers injured, triggers emergency response and high security alert citywide concerns

ISLAMABAD by (Muhammad Zahid Khan) A suicide bombing struck Imambargah Qasr-e-Khadija-tul-Kubra in the Tarlai Kalan area of the federal capital during Friday prayers on Friday, leaving several people seriously injured while multiple fatalities are feared.

According to police and rescue officials, the explosion occurred inside the Imambargah at the time of congregational prayers, causing panic and chaos in the area. Several worshippers sustained critical injuries and were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Authorities have also received reports of casualties, though the exact number of deaths and injuries has yet to be officially confirmed.

Soon after the incident, DIG Operations and SSP Operations of Islamabad Police, along with senior officials of the district administration, reached the site. Law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and launched a comprehensive search operation. An emergency was declared across Islamabad, and security was placed on high alert.

The intensity of the blast was such that its sound was heard in surrounding localities, spreading fear among residents. Police, Rescue 1122, fire brigade and other emergency response teams rushed to the scene and initiated rescue and relief operations. Some of the injured remain in critical condition, raising fears that the death toll may rise.

On the instructions of the Inspector General of Islamabad Police, additional security personnel have been deployed at sensitive locations, places of worship, and major entry and exit points across the city. The Bomb Disposal Squad and forensic teams are collecting evidence from the scene to determine the nature of the explosion.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the incident, stating that all possible angles are being examined to ascertain the cause of the blast and identify those responsible.
