Punjab Enforces Marriage Functions Act As Maryam Nawaz Directs Action
LAHORE: (Web Desk)/ Our Correspondent) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday ordered strict enforcement of the Punjab Marriage Functions Act 2016 across the province.
Following her directive, the Deputy Commissioner Lahore instructed assistant commissioners to closely monitor marriage halls and take action against those violating prescribed Standard Operating Procedures.
During a district-wide operation, authorities carried out 217 inspections and found that 93 percent of wedding halls were complying with the SOPs. However, action was initiated against 15 marriage halls in Raiwind, Nishtar Colony, Cantt, and Wagha areas for breaching the one-dish policy.

The Deputy Commissioner directed that halls found violating SOPs be sealed immediately, while owners adhering to regulations were encouraged.
District administration teams were further instructed to remain in the field late into the night to ensure continuous monitoring of marriage functions.
