Azad Kashmir Schools to Observe Winter Vacations from December 26

The announcement comes as education authorities nationwide finalize their winter vacation plans.

ISLAMABAD — The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has approved winter vacations for public and private educational institutions across the region.

According to a notification issued by the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, the Secretary of Elementary and Secondary Education has formally approved the winter break schedule for all schools.

Schools in colder areas of Azad Kashmir will remain closed from 26 December 2025 to 26 February 2026, totaling 63 days. For institutions in relatively warmer areas, the winter break will be observed from 29 December 2025 to 10 January 2026, spanning 13 days. The schedule applies uniformly to all government and private schools across the region.

The announcement comes as education authorities nationwide finalize their winter vacation plans. In Islamabad, federal schools and colleges under the Federal Directorate of Education will be closed from 26 December 2025 to 3 January 2026, with classes resuming on 5 January 2026. Private schools in the capital, regulated by PEIRA, have been instructed to follow the same schedule.

Other provinces have also issued their schedules: Punjab schools and colleges will observe winter vacations from 22 December 2025 to 10 January 2026, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has adopted a zone-based system, granting longer breaks in colder regions and shorter closures in warmer zones.

This coordinated move aims to ensure students, teachers, and staff across the country can plan their holidays efficiently during the winter season.
