Alarming Rise in HIV Cases in Pakistan: 10,000 New Patients in Just Nine Months
The Ministry of Health has warned that HIV is becoming a silent epidemic in the country.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is witnessing a dangerous increase in HIV cases, with 10,000 new infections reported in the first nine months of 2025 alone.
According to the Health Department, these new cases mark a concerning rise compared to 13,001 cases reported throughout the entire previous year. If the current trend continues, the total number of cases could exceed 14,000 by the end of 2025.
Experts say most of the new infections have been detected among individuals who underwent mandatory HIV testing during travel, surgeries, or emergency medical situations.

The report highlights that HIV is no longer limited to specific high-risk groups but is spreading among families, including mothers and children.
