Punjab police to get latest drones, weaponry to fight dacoits.

Punjab police lack advanced drones and carriers for Katcha fights, while Sindh uses tech to strike criminal hideouts effectively.

Punjab – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – Punjab police are asking for modern tools like drones and armored vehicles to fight criminals in the tough Katcha river areas. Compared to them, Sindh police have better equipment for these difficult operations.

The Katcha area runs along the Indus River and is full of forests and rough land. This makes it hard for police to reach criminals who hide there. In Sindh, districts like Kashmore and Ghotki are known for serious crimes. In Punjab, the problem is in areas like Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan.

A police official explained that these criminal gangs have very strong weapons. They have rocket launchers and anti-aircraft guns, which can even destroy police vehicles. Because of this, Punjab police leaders believe new technology is the answer. They think drones and strong armored vehicles are key to winning this fight.

To help, the Punjab government has approved four new armored vehicles for the police in key districts. However, these forces still have fewer vehicles than their counterparts in Sindh. For example, police in Sindh’s Kashmor district have 18 modern armored vehicles each. The official said that vehicles with tracks, like a bulldozer, work much better in mud and sand than ones with wheels. Punjab is behind in getting these tracked vehicles for its police.

Using drone technology is a major shift in how police can handle security threats.

Sindh police are already using advanced drones that can do more than just watch. Their drones have heat-sensing cameras and can even drop explosives on criminal hideouts. Punjab police, on the other hand, only use drones for watching and gathering information. Because they lack the latest gear, Punjab police are careful about going deep into the Katcha areas. Instead, they are building new checkposts and rough roads to improve access. This is all part of a bigger plan to clear the area of criminals and terrorists for good.
